Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C., DC

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington, D.C.’s story began in 1842 with the construction of the General Post Office Building in the heart of Washington, D.C. It was built in the Neoclassical style, patterned after the Roman Temple of Jupiter and the first all-marble building in the city. Renovated in 2002, the hotel now operates in the revitalized historic building. The historic building received the Washington, D.C. Mayor’s Award for Historic Preservation, the GSA Heritage Award for Adaptive Use, and the GSA Heritage Award for Conservation and Restoration. Those honors were eventually bestowed onto the hotel. Guests can enjoy a dazzling dining experience at Dirty Habit DC or exploring the arts and entertainment district of Penn Quarter.
