Cavallo Point

San Francisco, CA

Fort Baker is a scenic army post in the Marin Headlands that helped defend the San Francisco area for over a century. Constructed in the early 1900s, the 24 buildings around the 10-acre parade ground enjoy an extraordinary setting. Symmetrical Colonial Revival-style buildings feature classical elements like columns and wraparound porches. Today, these beautifully renovated officers’ quarters provide guest accommodations of understated luxury. Active through World War II, Fort Baker transferred officially in 2002 from post to park. In 2008, Cavallo Point opened to guests-the result of a unique private/public/nonprofit alliance to restore, enhance, and preserve Fort Baker as a national park for generations to come.
