Constructed in 1763, John Rutledge House Inn® is both a National Historic Landmark and lovely boutique hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. It was once the home of John Rutledge, a signer of the U.S. Constitution and an esteemed South Carolina politician. Rutledge helped write several iterations of the document from the building’s second-floor drafting room. It is even rumored that She Crab Soup was created in the house at a party attended by President William Howard Taft during the 1920s.
