Hotel Shattuck Plaza

Berkeley, CA

Located in a historic, Mission-style structure, Hotel Shattuck Plaza is a top luxury hotel Berkeley offers. Its name pays homage to Francis K. Shattuck, a representative in the California State Assembly, a former Oakland mayor, and a prominent figure in Berkeley’s early history. Originally the Shattuck Hotel, the property was designed by architect Benjamin McDougall and first opened its doors in 1910. The hotel has undergone a series of changes over the years, including the construction of an annex in 1914, the addition of a covered arcade in 1926, and an extensive overall renovation to provide contemporary amenities. Hotel Shattuck Plaza, built in 1910 and a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2025, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
